How to use OneFilter
Getting started
1Install the extension
Add OneFilter to Chrome or Edge on your computer, then open it from the toolbar. It does not support dedicated smartphone apps.
2Review what is sent and give consent
Post text and your rules are sent to external services for evaluation. Check the recipients and how they handle storage, then choose “Agree and start.” Nothing is sent for evaluation before you give consent.
3Describe posts you want to avoid
Write one rule per line. You can also select an example to add it. When you stop typing, visible posts are filtered again using your rules.
Store release is being prepared
Once the Chrome and Edge extension is published, you can add it here.
Writing rules
Be specific about topics and content
Describe the content you want to avoid instead of listing keywords. For spoilers, include the title and the episodes or chapters you have not seen or read.
Hide posts that reveal what happens in episode 5 or later of The Example Show, including the ending.
Add exceptions for content you want to keep
If unrelated posts are hidden, add an exception such as “except…”. You can write up to 10 lines, with 200 characters per line. The same rules apply to X and YouTube comments.
Hide posts about politics, except information about government services and how to apply for them.
Display options and undoing mistakes
Hide (default)
Replace a post with a single line showing the rule it matched. Choose “Show” to read the text.
Remove
Remove the entire post from view and close the gap. You can review posts removed today in the popup list. The list stays on your device and is cleared when you close the browser.
Mark only
Keep the text visible and mark the rule it matched. Use this to check whether too much is being hidden.
This is a mistake
Reveal a hidden post and choose “This is a mistake” to stop hiding that post on this device. Choose “Edit rule” to adjust the wording of your rule.
Data sent and common questions
What is sent?
Evaluation uses post text, your rules, and an ID for counting usage (account authentication when signed in). Social media account names, browsing history, and URLs are not sent. OneFilter does not store evaluated post text on its servers. Whether the no-storage setting is applied by the evaluation providers is still being verified.
Where does it work?
In Chrome and Edge on computers, it supports X timelines and notifications, and YouTube comments. X ads, video and image content, and live chat are excluded. Message requests are evaluated only on a paid plan after you give separate consent in settings. Conversations with people you know are not sent.
Do I need to sign in?
Try up to 100 posts per day without signing in. Signing in is free and allows up to 400 posts per day, with your rules available on other computers. Free early access is limited to the first 100 people. The paid plan costs JPY 300 per month or JPY 3,000 per year, with a daily limit of 2,000 posts to prevent excessive use. Usage counts evaluated posts, not hidden posts.
What if it hides too much or misses posts?
Try making your rules more specific or changing the evaluation strength in settings. Evaluations can be wrong. When signed in, you can also choose “Report over-filtering or missed posts.” You decide whether to include the post text in your report.
